Wherever Jupiter is moving within the chart, or wherever Jupiter is found within your nativity is where we are confronted with the notions of how we might be underestimating ourselves or our potentials—where we may be failing to rise to the occasion of our god-given gifts, to truly illuminate…
When Jupiter moves into Aries—the first zodiacal energy—it’s kind of a big deal.
Anytime anything passes through Aries it’s something of a zodiacal re-setting.
Jupiter previously moved through Aries this year—from May 11th to October 27th—but only made it to the eighth degree of Aries before stationing retrograde—so it was much like a mere taste in many ways… this time Jupiter will be unimpeded in its forward-moving through—to ingress into Taurus in May!—this means that we have roughly five months to work with these mighty manifestation-able motivations for personal growth and advancement, for absolute personal empowering.
Aries is an energy that is intrinsically linked to the beginnings of all things, to that initial first step—to the first breath, the first spark of life… Aries energies are born of the spark of an idea, ideal, or initial step—Aries energies require balanced energy to be brought forth, to be brought forward, to be brought into focus.
This would suggest, then, that Jupiter moving into Aries would (re)charge something that was either perviously initiated or is being embraced now in an effort to (re)invigorate for you a (re)new(ed) sense of personal purpose—to implore for yourself what you’re actually capable of…
Jupiter is ruled by Zeus, mythologically, though there is much to this archetypal association—I mean, Zeus was god of the gods—and so these Jupiter transits can animate similar energies within your reality, particularly when attempting to go above and beyond… and so wherever Jupiter is within your nativity is likely where you feel somewhat—entitled… or at the very least, invincible.
Shamanic astrologer Raven Kaldera (Myth Astrology; Llewelyn 2004) writes of Jupiter in Aries that “nothing is done in half measures… accompanied by an urge to use these gifts as often as possible in as big a way as you can manage—he can, if you let him, take over your life… [either way, one] must have faith in the dream of conquering something, even if it is only one’s own fears and smallnesses.”
These energies, then, could feel very much like taking on opportunities in opening to your inner divine… to (finally) recognizing the divinity you hold within yourself.
And this can be/feel both cumbersome… and insatiably surreal.
These dramatically amplified ambitions will not only be experienced through the sector of your reality that Aries governs, but possibly also through the sectors of your reality that Jupiter rules—through Sagittarius and Pisces…
This is a lot—this is a lot of potential to manage.
And so it goes with Jupiter…
So let’s narrow this down just a tad—look to where Aries is in your nativity—this is where the bulk of newness and opportunity will be beckoning you within your personal reality to risk giving your all—to risk exploring your full potential.
When Jupiter moves through Aries we do something big simply to prove we can. That’s it—pretty simple… though nearly never ever simplistic—much of the joy to be experienced within Aries is the not-knowing, is the sheer chance of it all, the risk in just doing it—anything.
Jupiter’s first aspect from within Aries will be to the sun, by square, which you can read about here… and then Jupiter will begin to move into a midpoint arrangement between the sun and Mars by sextile (around mid-month January, and I’ll post on that in January), and then later in January squares Mercury coming out of retrograde in Capricorn, which could communicate to you what next moves/lessons may be…
Until then—BEGIN!!!—or BEGIN AGAIN!
“Now I’m ready to start—I would rather be wrong than live in the shadows of your song…
My mind is open wide—and now I’m ready to start.”
—Arcade Fire; ‘Ready to Start’ lyrics
