To recap—Mercury was in Libra earlier this year, from August 25th-September 22nd before moving back into Virgo due to retrograde… Mercury made it to the eighth degree of Libra before stationing to retrograde.
So.
Allow me, if you will, to write a simple overview of what Mercury in Libra looks like, as we will see this all month, come October 11-29th—when Mercury is in Libra—manners will get you everywhere, you’ll see; and when lacking, it will halt everything.
When Mercury is in Libra—obviously, charm is currency.
When Mercury is in Libra—oscillations of self-reflection and public relations in general or any social exchange are constant.
When Mercury is in Libra—omniscience between what you think and what they think becomes blurred, brutally separated and self-critically interconnected simultaneously.
When Mercury is in Libra—oppositions between self-love and self-talk are inherently put against exchanges and dynamics with Other.
When Mercury is in Libra—overcoming the nearly constant need to counter-argue every single point being made, or merely entertained…
When Mercury is in Libra—Venus governs Mercury, which means that Mercury’s motivations are somewhat revised and rerouted toward more Venusian pursuits… and currently, Venus is moving through Libra, too—which Venus rules, so Venus, you could say: is feeling extra gracious and capable… which would suggest that Mercury’s own motivations are somewhat more acceptable.
Mercury’s motivations, always—to communicate, exchange, interact, learn, teach, and ask questions and voice opinions… and, then there’s commerce; always always hustling.
Whether you’re bartering eggs, dollars, or bitcoin—when Mercury is in Libra—you will want it to be balanced fairly; all subjective leanings will be measured objectively.
You will also want to take a look at what sector of your life that Libra governs within your nativity—this is likely the part of your life that will feel much more imbalanced, requiring you to rebalance the imbalances—or assist others in support with theirs… this is likely the part of your life that will feel split or divided, or the complete opposite: resolved and united.
Because Libra is cardinal in Nature—when Mercury is here, its motivations dislike being shunned… the motivations of Mercury, in Libra, strive to be envisioned and celebrated, collaborated with and shared. Mercury can be quite diplomatic here, as well as objective, split, hesitant, giving or receiving mixed signals, and/or somewhat opinionated… though, still, Mercury in Libra is exceptionally smooth, and reserved.
Ultimately, the fear of conflict is the thing… remember Mercury’s motivations—to communicate, or commerce—if there’s conflict, there’s no exchange.
Also, Mercury in Libra can insult you in a way that sounds so smooth and elegant and sophisticated you may not realize you’ve been ridiculed until you’re home… and even then—you continue to debate with yourself over it.
Mercury, when in Libra, is often vilified for being a social butterfly… entertaining something of a constant back-n-forth with either actual people, or with political sides, or with one’s own thoughts and feelings—particularly feelings—running hot and cold. This is specifically valid, as Mercury’s forte is not feelings—that’s Venus—while the thoughts, vice versa. And so, to Libra energies chagrin—both thoughts and feelings are vulnerable to this celestially-charged phenomena.
Ultimately, when Mercury moves through Libra—it’s an opportunity for you to go out of your way to learn something about that which you typically ‘oppose’, ‘deny’, or ‘disbelieve’…
This is an opportunity for you to see how the ‘other half’ lives… not necessarily what others think and believe, and why they think and believe whatever it is—because this is not in an effort to define, understand, compare, or probe—this is an opportunity to simple confront oneself with the reality that there are other ways of doing things, and other ways of thinking about things, and other ways of believing in things, and that it need not always be either/or—that sometimes it can be and/both.
From now through October 29th—find all the ways your reality can benefit from and/both and explore the ways which still require either/or… and reflect upon this.
