Solar Spotlights
Sun in Sagittarius, Capricorn
The sun connects to Chiron, by trine, on December 7th through a degree that highlights a need to be alert for opportunities, as well as waiting for the right opportunity… knowing precisely what you want, or what you might actually really need, will work wonders for you here—so that you’ll know exactly what it is you’re looking for… or risk struggling to acknowledge some of the harsher truths about the reality you’ve chosen to ‘subscribe’ to.
The sun moves on to connect to the NN, also by trine, on December 14th, upon a degree that strongly suggests trying new things—as well as the recognition of opportunity… likely even more strongly, and even more comfy, should you have chosen to be honest with yourself, your needs, and your vulnerabilities back on the 7th.
Simultaneously, the sun will also be applying a square to Neptune, exact on December 16th, through a degree that forewarns of over-reaching ambitions—to the point of a need for resourcefulness and creative improvisations.
The sun moves into Capricorn at 7:27pm PST on December 21st—marking Solstice.
The sun immediately connects to Mercury through an inferior conjunction, as Mercury will be retrograde, on December 22nd at 0*39’ Capricorn… this is a degree that seeks to exploit confrontations… and a need for self-assertion. Exercise your personal authority, today, if you should need to do so—or use your voice for gain.
The sun will connect to Saturn by sextile on December 24th, exploiting the underlying need for new experiences—to an extent that you are bargaining with time… again, know what it is you want and begin initiating the necessary steps to connect yourself to whatever it is you’re wanting or needing.
Finally, the sun will connect to a retrograded Jupiter, by trine, on December 27th… this occurs upon a degree highlighting the taking of a first step—and, interestingly, this occurs through the degree that Jupiter will station through, which is to suggest that this first step will be that much more pronounced, that much more dramatic, that much more important. Essentially, whatever you’re after—it’s yours—you now need to go and claim it.
The new year of 2024 will begin with the sun at 10*23’ Capricorn while the moon applies a trine, almost exact, from 9*56’ Virgo… both separating from a trine with Jupiter—what a lovely sight—nearly promising growth, expansions, proliferations, and celebrations…
A worthy way of celebrating this year’s renewal would be to do something entirely different—to explore unfamiliar ways to experience being alive, and allowing joy.
Monthly Moon Moods
The Moon Through December
December 4th offers the LQ moon at 12*24’ Virgo—this moon will illuminate the decision to set new personal boundaries or revise and update existing boundaries… this will likely be necessary, in particular, in regard to the amount of private/alone time you have, or require.
December 12th offers the new moon at 20*40’ Sagittarius—this moon will illuminate the inner ambition to go, see, do… you are not only seeking to improve yourself in some truly meaningful way, but you’re also seeking/needing to learn new things, and experience new ways of being alive—most specifically, in an effort to take back control of your own personal ideals.
December 19th offers the 1st Q moon at 27*35’ Pisces—this moon will illuminate a need to sacrifice something important, or to find a new balance for an appreciation you have for something… you may need to share with others your time, energy, or other resources for reasons beyond your control—or because it’s the right thing to do.
December 26th offers the full moon on 4*58’ Cancer—this moon will illuminate an urgency to finish something, or endure it… it will be important to understand your boundaries, and to acknowledge your personal limitations—in knowing when to stop, in an effort to maintain control.
Mercurial Machinations
Mercury in Capricorn, Rx
Mercury begins the month moving directly into Capricorn, connecting to Jupiter by trine on December 7th while simultaneously conversing with Venus, by sextile, December 11th through degrees that associate to self-assurance, and healing, respectively… your ‘ability to bring about desired results is at its peak—if you don’t like where things seem to be headed, it may be wise to make changes now…’
Mercury stations on December 12th, to station retrograde on the 13th at 8*26’ Capricorn—the moon illuminating this by conjunction… this degree alludes to ‘divine protections, a charmed life, and the ability to maintain a positive and optimistic attitude in even the most trying situations…’ and so utilizing this retrograde as a time of opportunity, rather than off-putting what-if’s, could really serve you.
Mercury reconnects to the moon, via inferior conjunction—mentioned above—on December 22nd at 0*39’ Capricorn before moving back into Sagittarius later that night.
Mercury then connects to Neptune by square on December 26th while simultaneously applying a conjunction to Mars, exact on December 27th… these alignments, with an emphasis on the specific planets playing these roles, are not energies to be trusted…
These alignments, through Mercury, occur through degrees associated to unpredictability, and everyday transactions, respectively.
The year ends with Mercury at 22*14’ Sagittarius—a degree that communicates the need to close the door to the past and open wide the gateway to your future, and/or to ‘pull up roots and make a change’—preparing to station to move directly on January 2nd, moving fully directly again by January 3rd.
Venusian Ventures
Venus in Scorpio
Venus begins the month of December upon the last degree of Libra, moving into Scorpio on December 4th, but not before connecting to Pluto the day before through a degree that strongly suggests you begin making plans—that ‘finding ways to link things that are now separate and apart could be quite challenging…’
Immediately, Venus connects to Saturn, by trine, exact on December 5th, through a degree that emphasize impressions left behind…
Venus will oppose Jupiter by December 9th through a degree that exploits the need to reject anything that is superficial as there will be a very intense inner need to experience something deeply and enduringly, to ‘saturate or immerse yourself totally in everything of current interest…’ and will exaggerate an ‘unshakeable determination’. Further, these energies (depending upon where they fall within your chart) would be most useful to you to utilize in way of self-improvement, or getting to the bottom of something that has previously been most challenging or curious. Persistence will pay off… eventually—likely by the first week of January, after Jupiter stations.
Mid-month Venus will move without aspect for several days, before applying and exacting an opposition to Uranus, on December 20th, through a degree that determines moving forward… and, quite unpredictably, there may be an unexpected courage to confront something uncomfortable—or to take on something revealed.
Finally, a connection to Neptune, by trine, exacts on December 24th, through a degree that might lend its energies to the need to acknowledge the reality of circumstances in a much more honest manner—though the ease of seeing things through more rosy realms will likely be harsh, or challenging, to see around or through.
Venus will move into Sagittarius on December 29th, and as 2023 shifts into 2024, Venus will be at 3*01’ Sagittarius… this is a degree that attracts a need to practice—which is to say that 2024 will likely offer you may opportunities to practice something new, through new situations, in an effort to offer you a more individuated and independent stance upon something meaningful.
Mars Motivations
Mars in Sagittarius
Mars begins the month being left behind from its recent conjunction to the sun…
And so, in natural celestial cadence, Mars follows the sun’s trail, and exacts its own connection to Chiron, by trine, on December 15th, through the same exact degree the sun made the connection through… though, from Mars’ perspective, this emphasis for self-assertion may manifest much more strongly, and seizing of an opportunity—that much more eagerly and/or boisterously.
On December 24th Mars connects to the NN through a degree that encourages trying something new—again, through the same degree the sun connected through—and these unfamiliar territories and potential experiences to be explored, through the perspective of Mars, in Sagittarius, is bound to be quite powerful; so much so I would not suggest trying to resist or refuse these organically curious energies.
Mars connects to Mercury—mentioned above—while simultaneously squaring Neptune, exact on December 28th, through a degree that emphasizes the declaration of loyalties… though, as it’s a square, these very loyalties may find a sneaky way of being tested, challenged, or otherwise trespassed. I would advise against declaring anything to anyone, particularly if you’re uninterested in needing to potentially defend your declarations later.
Mars will be at 27*33’ Sagittarius on NYE—a degree that warns of balance… especially within personal parameters and boundaries; understanding your own personal patterning and cycles, particularly if there’s something that continues to occur that is less than ideal, would behoove your time to explore yourself much more honestly.
Mars moves into Capricorn on January 4th, 2024.

Jupiter begins the month of December at 7*04’ Rx Taurus and ends the month at 5*35’ Taurus—the last time Jupiter moved through these degrees, directly, was from June 10th through the 19th…
Curiously, Jupiter will be stationing to turn direct upon this degree of 5*35’, exact on December 31st, and will be moving directly by January 4th. This would also bring attention to these degrees (5*35—7*04 Taurus), to be emphasized yet again, (particularly the sixth degree* as this is the degree being stationed through) for a third and final time, from December 31st through January 29th, 2024.
