Slow-Going Actions, Revelatory Inspirations…
Sun in Capricorn, Aquarius
The new year of 2023 begins through something of a slow-motion time-warp of sorts…
As the sun continues moving through Capricorn, until the 20th of January, the sun will exact its square to Chiron, meet a retrograded Mercury in an inferior conjunction, connect to the North Node, Uranus, and Pluto—all of which will be covered more thoroughly through additional posts—and suggests for a much more inspired journey through the last degrees of Capricorn, inspired and sparked and motivated and ready: for change.
Although the sun moving into Aquarius will still be governed by Saturn—after the 20th the sun will be co-present with Saturn, still moving through Aquarius until March… this will also offer an additional Aquarian jolt as the sun will begin applying a square to the Nodes—ending the month upon this note.
Though the new year may not ‘get off the old ground’ until roughly mid-month—the ‘new ground’ eagerly awaits… and if you’re ready, prepared, and eager to evolve, it’ll be worth the wait.
The Monthly Moon

The Moon Through January
The first major lunation of 2023 will be on January 6th, the full moon at 16*22’ Cancer—and it’s sure to be a doozy… the moon and sun will create a t-square with Chiron, while the sun is applying its inferior conjunction to Mercury Rx. Despite all of this cardinal energy, it will likely be somewhat challenging to gain any footing, especially as this lunar event will tell much toward that which is still in need of repair or review. Also, this is occurring through a degree that encourages self-actualization—for better or worse.
Then, on January 14th the LQ moon in Libra at 24*38’ will square both the sun and Pluto, in Capricorn, and this will also lend itself toward the upcoming new moon… this lunar event occurs through a degree that inspires revelation—particularly within the bounds of understanding and interpretation, toward application, and objectivity.
On January 21st, the new moon in Aquarius at 1*33’ occurs conjunct Pluto, though out-of-sign (28* Capricorn), it is still most likely to have a profoundly transformational effect… this occurs through a degree that forewarns the ‘probability of the improbable…’ and so much in regard to the unexpected will likely be revealed—or, perhaps, this is when you’ll finally grasp your stance and begin forwardly exploring.
And finally, on January 28th, the 1stQ moon in Taurus at 8*26’ is conjunct the North Node, as well as occurring quite close to Uranus (15* Taurus), through a degree that assures fulfillment… and with Venus now in Pisces—this should be quite a lovely energy to enjoy, indeed.
Always, you can read my daily Moon Moods forecasts the day before via my personal website or by 5:55am Pacific time on the day on Facebook, and these will always be complementary.
Mercurial Machinations
New Year Plans May Feel/Be a Bit Stalled…
Mercury Rx/S/D in Capricorn
2022 ended with Mercury retrograde, thus beginning 2023 retrograded—and so will present a small complication regarding any jumpstarts on plans, goals, or ideals you’re wanting to begin acting on: the jumpstart is quite literally in reverse…
The last month of 2022 was astrologically significant in that there was an overwhelm of Capricorn-motivated energy to keep up with—yet when Mercury stationed retrograde as it was just passed by Venus to connect to Pluto in conjunction—there was a major upheaval of sorts in regard to emotional/irrational contexts, providing little in terms of rational explanation: something emerged from the darkness in an effort to shine light… though sometimes it’s hard to look directly at the light after being within the darkness for so long.
As this was emerging, Mercury began moving over its steps, trying to find reason, or cause—looking back into the working order of things, structures and institutions…
What was thought to be working may now be requiring a bit of a tune-up.
Yet—not only is Mercury retrograde, so is Mars… which suggests that both our mental ability to reason and connect dots is compromised, as well as our overall ego motivations—these, too, are requiring a bit of self-guided inner explorations: to remember, to regain, to recover, and/or to revive—and likely, to reflect upon all of these.
Mercury will meet up with the sun on January 7th at 16*57’ Capricorn—a degree that encourages ‘getting down to the bare essentials’ and throwing yourself into the learning of something entirely new to you… this should assist in support to whatever tuning up you’re working toward, as it’s likely that what you’re requiring—without even realizing it—is something you could easily rearrange into your routine.
Mercury will station on January 18th—and at this time Mars will finally be moving directly as well—and both mental and egoic motivations will be much more prepared.
More on all of this as these occur…

That Which Enlightens Leads the Way…
Venus in Aquarius, Pisces
Venus moves into Aquarius almost immediately into January, and thereby influencing the participation with, and longing of, personal freedoms…
I will be writing more about Venus in Aquarius, but the overview I would like you to takeaway, is that as Venus moves through Aquarius at this time, Venus applies and squares the Nodes on January 10th, upon a degree that forewarns of disappointments and possibly rejection—and the courage it requires to keep on, to continue being you.
This notion in directionality should motivate new ways of being, and deeper, more meaningful ways of connecting with Self in an effort to better align and reconcile yourself with that which truly enlightens you… and to know yourself that much more.
Venus then connects to Saturn in conjunction on January 22 through a degree that could actually influence manifested reward, or acknowledgment, for sticking something out… or to recognize the new you you’re becoming.
That which lives in light will always be attractive.
Then, when Venus moves into Pisces, near the end of the month, co-present with Neptune, and the asteroid Vesta—Vesta representing the eternal sacred inner flame—this should be a very nice and long-awaited sigh of relief in many ways… and more on this in February.
