On August 28th Venus, in Leo, will exact an opposition—that has been building since the 24th—to a retrograded Saturn, in Aquarius, through a degree that describes ‘deep underpinnings…’
Interestingly, this opposition also builds upon an already-building energy illuminating and highlighting polarizations… and this degree speaks of something of a polarization between ego and self, between inner instincts and surface desires, between impulse and duty… ‘your best self and worst self are grappling with each other extremely.’
Further, the Chandra symbol associated with this degree suggests that “the witnessing intelligence is far removed from this dramatization, and registering every nuance from beyond… within the precincts of the drama there is also a compulsion to go against form and show the other side, against what is expected or assumed—yet as the observer beholds this very compulsion, it is minor and trivial, only a personality quirk… the inward wisdom drives you, the karmic performer, to outdo yourself in switching and reversing polarities—but ultimately you are not amused and archly await steps toward maturity and the dawning of ability to see through yourself on the spot—which is a very difficult and advanced state and the only one that inspires and urges onward this quixotic combination of outward entrapment and inward fair witnessing with the utmost dispassion…”
In other words, there may emerge or peak either a need or an opportunity to act out—specifically in a way that you would not ever otherwise entertain.
The acting out—however necessary, or liberating—will, in turn, likely not provide the expected or assumed response or reaction… and ultimately, this entire impulsive experiment proves to be quite educational—and inspiring, as you are now quite fully able and capable to recognize this new ‘switch’, for lack of a more appropriate word, within yourself…
Venus in Leo brings out the inner flare within us—the inner courage and confidence to genuinely express ourselves, whether that invites a true talent for the theatre or a penchant to throw one hell of a tyrannical tantrum… in Leo, Venus is able to feel… and when opposed by Saturn, in Aquarius—the antidote to feeling—these expressions inevitably become… minimized, if not outrightly muted, or perhaps worse—not received. Saturn is cold, and naturally unreceptive—as is Aquarius; the combined result is a very impersonally disconnected reaction to emotion or expressions of feelings.
Perhaps this opposition, for you, will manifest as an inner conflict within yourself… or it might emerge in conversation with an/Other.
Should this be between you, yourself, and your own—remember to be kind to yourself… resist giving yourself the ‘cold shoulder’ or restricting your whole self from yourself—no matter how uncomfortable it may feel… there’s likely a reason you’re needing to feel whatever it is you’re feeling. And it might be quite bold. Trust it. And manage through it… and you’ll be thicker-skinned on the other side—much more comfortable within your own skin thereafter.
Remember—Venus in Leo is about courage, and confidence, and standing up for your own convictions, sure… but also, these energies are about standing firmly for the smallest of passing moods, elaborate cravings, dramatic tones of inflection or expression, and boldly embedded curiosity for that which is not—there’s a natural polarization actively and impulsively occurring within Leo energies, as it is the natural actor of the zodiac… Leo energies love to play, to role-play, to be who they are not, to imagine what it might be like to be… something other than who they are.
Sometimes it’s healthy to behave in ways that we don’t typically behave… as long as we’re not doing so in an effort to avoid, ignore, deny, or resist.
It is through Leo, and wherever Leo is within your own nativity, that we learn the raw essence of who we really are, beneath all of the natural defensive mechanisms, such as deep underpinnings and character roles—it is where we learn the purest truth of our inner potential and self-worth… and Venus inherently blesses these pursuits.
So, it’s possible that you may feel an emotional flattening around the 28th, or a chillier reaction to things—a lack of interest or desire or lust for life… try not to dwell here. Instead, try doing things that simply need to get done—those things that don’t necessarily require your loving touch or passionate interest—Saturn things.
And it’s likely that you’ll either take a bit of a hit upon your ego around the 28th—or you’ll have an opportunity to understand yourself that much better, that much more honestly, without the mask, without the drama… and perhaps, without the ordinary response or reaction.
Just you… as you have the potential to be. With confidence. With Venus’s blessing.
